Durga Puja 2021: ladies participate in sindur khela carrying PPE kits in Kolkata Pandal

Durga Puja, the most important competition celebrated by Bengalis round the world, came to an end on friday – Vijay Dashami. As married women participate in sindur khela – a special farewell ritual by applying vermillion on the deity and others – a puja committee in South dumdum created positive that Covid protocols are followed whereas celebrating the event. a group of girls participated within the ritual donning PPE kits, masks and gloves.

In an ongoing video, women have been seen dancing to the rhythm of the dhaak, having fun keeping in mind that the pandemic is not over.

In a bid to spread the word about Covid19 so securely, organizers have stressed that the pandemic is not over and they hope that next year they can welcome the deity without masks. Referring to local media, they said many families have lost loved ones in the recent past and do not want the celebrations to add to the grief of others.

However, this is not the only reason the puja committee is receiving praise online. According to ABP Ananda, the initiative was also taken to promote harmony and be inclusive, as the women dancing in the PPE kits were from the remote areas of Bolpur. the women participating in the dance were from both the Hindu and Muslim communities, the report adds.
