Dr Balram Bhargava leads the race for AIIMS Director

32 people have also applied for the post of AIIMS Director. Applications were invited through advertisement for the post of Director in AIIMS in which applications have been sought from from post graduate candidates in Medicine , Surgery or Public Health. 12 candidates from different departments of AIIMS have also applied for the post.

With the date of retirement of AIIMS director approaching, speculations are being made about the appointment of a new director. In the race for the new director, apart from senior doctors of 12 departments working in AIIMS, directors of 32 other AIIMS have applied. The selection of AIIMS Director will be done only after the consent of the four-member committee constituted under the chairmanship of PS PMO.

Director General Dr. Balram Bhargava, Director General of ICMR, Dr. Rajesh Malhotra, Head of AIIMS Trauma Center, Dr. MB Padma Shrivastava, Head of Neuroscience Center, Dr. Nikhil Tandon, Head of Endocrinology Department, Dr. AK Bisoi, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery. Dr. Sudhir Gupta, Head of Forensic Department, Dr. Arvind Rajvanshi, Director of AIIMS Rae Bareli, Dr. Surekha Kishor, Director of AIIMS Gorakhpur, Dr. Vikas Bhatia, AIIMS Telangana BB Nagar, etc. have applied for the post of AIIMS Director.
