Donald Trump Retaliates Against Ontario’s Tariffs, Imposes 25% Tax on Canadian Steel & Aluminium
Donald Trump then goes ahead to say: The increase in tariffs will be effective from March 12.

Donald Trump Retaliates Against Ontario’s Tariffs: Donald Trump is the way US President stated on Tuesday - to double the already imposed planned tariffs on Canadian aluminium and steel, especially after the province of Ontario decided to levy an electricity surcharge onto three US states.
According to him, it will come into effect on March 12 in a Truth social media post.
“I have instructed my Secretary of Commerce to add an ADDITIONAL 25% Tariff, to 50%, on all STEEL and ALUMINUM COMING INTO THE UNITED STATES FROM CANADA, ONE OF THE HIGHEST TARIFFING NATIONS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD,” Trump posted.
He further said that Canada would have to "immediately drop" its outrageous 250% to 390% "anti-american farmer tariff" on some US dairy products.

“I will shortly be declaring a National Emergency on Electricity within the threatened area. This will allow the US to quickly do what has to be done to alleviate this abusive threat from Canada,” Trump wrote.
The US president further warned: “If other egregious, long time Tariffs are not likewise dropped by Canada, I will substantially increase, on April 2nd, the Tariffs on Cars coming into the U.S. which will, essentially, permanently shut down the automobile manufacturing business in Canada.”
Earlier today, he called Canada a "tariff-abuser" and charged that the province of Ontario charges an electricity surcharge on three states in the US. He also claimed that his country did not need Canadian energy.
The tariff move in Ontario
Now, Ontario, which is Canada's most populous province, announces that from Monday, there will be a 25% hike in tariffs in electricity exports for almost 1.5 million American consumers in Minnesota, New York and Michigan.

“I will not hesitate to increase this charge. If the United States escalates, I will not hesitate to shut the electricity off completely,” Ontario Premier Doug Ford had said.
“Believe me when I say I do not want to do this. I feel terrible for the American people who didn't start this trade war. It’s one person who is responsible, it’s President Trump,” he added.
Trump is said to have spoken in different ways about ending Canada and making a big mess of bilateral trade, so vital to the economy of Canada, with tariffs that have spiked in many different ways since he came to office, according to AFP.
