Six doctors and the management of a large private hospital were convicted of medical malpractice on the complaint of a resident of the city. In his complaint, Ashok Makkar, a resident of New Colony, said his wife, who was admitted to Artemis Hospital last year in June, died in August due to medical negligence.
The late Rajni Makkar (48) visited Dr Geeta Baruah Nath at Artemis Hospital last year on June 18 because she suffered from pain in the lower abdomen and was advised to remove the uterus by a laparoscopic procedure. In addition, the doctors had informed her that they could perform an operation if the laparoscopy failed.

Police received the report on Saturday from Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma, Higher Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) Rohtak, after which the FIR was filed.
The six accused medical doctors of the sanatorium placed in Sector fifty one consist of Dr. Geeta Baruah Nath head, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Dr Nidhi Rajotia, assistant Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Dr Paritosh S Gupta,surgeon, Dr Devlina Chakravarty, CEO Artemis Hospital, Dr Manjinder Sandhu, scientific director and Dr Anjali Kaul, scientific superintendent of the sanatorium.
