‘DMK Not Afraid of ED or Modi’: Udhayanidhi Stalin Speaks as Tamil Nadu CM Attends NITI Aayog Meet

‘DMK Not Afraid of ED or Modi’: On Saturday, Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is not afraid of Enforcement Directorate (ED) searches or Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will deal with any action that comes through lawful action.

Speaking to reporters in Pudukkottai, Udhayanidhi - who is also the DMK youth wing secretary - said DMK will continue to protect rights of the state and will not succumb to any kind of political threat.

Udhayanidhi Stalin was responding to the Opposition AIADMK's allegations regarding Chief Minister MK Stalin's visit to Delhi to attend Niti Aayog Governing Council meeting at a time when ED has been searching the state-owned liquor corporation TASMAC.

Arrangements for the 10th Governing Council meeting of Niti Aayog under PM Modi on Saturday were made by BVR Subrahmanyam, CEO to say Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal, Bihar and Puducherry did not attend but even still as many as 31 of 36 states/UTs attended the meet.

"We are not afraid of ED or Modi. The DMK nurtured by Kalaignar (his grandfather and former chief minister M Karunanidhi), is a party with self-respect firmly moored to the principles of Periyar (rationalist leader E V Ramasamy)," news agency PTI quoted Udhayanidhi Stalin.

In defending the initiative and the chief minister's trip, Odhayanidhi Stalin said the trip was to request central funds for Tamil Nadu.

"They (BJP government at the Centre) tried to intimidate us in the past but we refused to yield. Our's is not a party with a servitude mindset. We will face the cases legally," he said.

Earlier, the deputy chief minister chaired review of number of government schemes in the district collectorate. He also distributed welfare assistance worth ? 40.54 crore and 1,195 beneficiaries The free house pattas were one of the benefits given to 125 tribal persons.

TN CM demands 50% share in central taxes

Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin on Saturday requested the Centre to increase state share in central taxes to 50 per cent and emphasized the need for a specific urban transformation mission for the state.

He said he "demanded a rightful 50 per cent share for states in central taxes," during his intervention at the Niti Aayog meeting in New Delhi.

“We currently receive only 33.16 percent against the promised 41,” the chief minister said in a post on the social media platform X.
