Dia Mirza hits back at trolls who tried to blot her pregnancy announcement
Trolls cited the fact that she had got married in February and questioned the possibility of heavy pregnancy in such a short time. Some even questioned the timing of Mirza’s wedding and her pregnancy, suspecting that the pregnancy could be the reason behind the ‘shotgun’ wedding.

Bollywood actress, Dai Mirza had taken recently to her Instagram handle to post a picture of her cradling her baby bump in Maldives, announcing her pregnancy to her fans and followers.
Mirza had tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony with Vaibhav Rekhi, founder of Piramal Fund Management Private Limited on February 19th and they are all set to welcome their first child together.
This was of course splendid news which led to many people and Bollywood celebrities such as Anushka Sharma and Priyanka Chopra congratulating Mirza.
But what was unfortunate and shameful was that some trolls on the internet tried to blot the good news by commenting about the timing of Mirza’s pregnancy. Trolls cited the fact that she had got married in February and questioned the possibility of heavy pregnancy in such a short time. Some even questioned the timing of Mirza’s wedding and her pregnancy, suspecting that the pregnancy could be the reason behind the ‘shotgun’ wedding.
A particular troll commented, “She tried to break the stereotypes with woman priest, why couldn't she announce her pregnancy before the marriage?" Mirza fired back at the comment and said, “We discovered we were going to have a baby while we were planning our wedding. So this marriage is not the result of pregnancy.”
She further explained that the reason behind not announcing the pregnancy earlier was due to medical reasons. Mirza asserted, “We didn't marry because we were having a baby together. We were already marrying as we wanted to spend our lives together.”
She also stated in the long comment that she was answering the troll only because “There must never be any shame attached to this beautiful journey (of having a baby).” She reminded the trollers that women “must always exercise our choice”, she added, “Whether we must choose to be single and parent a child or be in a marriage it is after all our choice.”
The whole episode of strangers in the forms of trolls passing judgements on people’s choices and character in order to demean people online is the most heinous modern day practice, kudos to Dia Mirza for standing up for herself and women in general.
