According to media reports, the flight 6E-2131, which was flying from Delhi to Bangalore, did not take off after the second engine failure warning. After this a loud sound was heard. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Saturday said it would take appropriate action after a detailed inquiry into the engine fire of an IndiGo aircraft at the Delhi airport. Significantly, an engine of an IndiGo aircraft that was preparing to take off from Delhi to Bengaluru on Friday night caught fire. The Bengaluru-bound A320 aircraft later returned to the parking bay and the 184 people on board were landed safely.
DGCA chief Arun Kumar said, “Our priority is to investigate the incident in detail and find out the cause of the engine fire. Fortunately, the fire was doused immediately and the aircraft is now grounded." He said the engine that caught fire was an IAEV2500. It was built by IAE International Aero Engines AG. "The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will conduct a detailed investigation to find out whether any such incident has happened in the past with these engines. Appropriate action will be taken after investigation."
