DGCA imposes Rs 10 lakh fine on GoFirst: The plane flew to Delhi leaving 55 passengers in Bengaluru

The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a fine of 10 lakhs on GoFirst Airline. In fact, on January 9, a GoFirst flight had left 55 passengers at the Bangalore airport and flew to Delhi. Investigation found that the disturbance occurred due to a communication problem.

After this incident, some passengers expressed their displeasure on social media. Passengers said that the passengers had boarded the bus at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru by taking boarding passes. The bus even reached the plane, but the passengers were not seated in it and the plane flew away leaving them behind.

GoFirst later tried damage control after 55 passengers were dropped off at the airport. He had apologized to these passengers, as well as offered a free ticket on a domestic flight. They can use it anytime in 12 months. GoFirst had taken the entire staff involved in the incident off duty pending the completion of the investigation. The passengers were sent on another flight after four hours. Passengers were to board GoFirst flight G8-116 from Bengaluru to Delhi at 5:45 am on January 9. A total of four buses were sent to take the passengers to the aircraft after security checking. The first two buses went ahead. When the airline came to know about the mistake, the passengers left at the airport were sent to Delhi by another flight after four hours.

The DGCA has fined the airline twice in a month for the urination incident in an Air India flight. On November 26 last year, a drunk man urinated on an elderly woman on a New York-Delhi flight. In this case, the DGCA imposed a fine of Rs 30 lakh on the airline. In the November 26 incident, the pilot's license has been suspended for 3 months. Meanwhile, the counsel for accused Shankar Mishra said that the four-month ban imposed on his client is wrong. The second incident was in December. A male passenger allegedly urinated on an empty seat and blanket of a female passenger on a flight from Paris to Delhi on December 6. DGCA imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on this on 24 January. The penalty was imposed for not reporting the incident to the DGCA and delay in referring the matter to the airline's internal committee.
