Devendra Fadnavis Hails SC’s Rebuke of Rahul Gandhi in Savarkar Defamation Case

Rahul Gandhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the summons issued to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by a Lucknow court over his remarks on freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar that were deemed controversial.
The court, however, did not spare Gandhi's criticism and said, “Let him not make any statement on freedom fighters without knowing any history or geography.”

Gandhi moved the apex court against the April 4 order of the Allahabad High Court which declined to quash the summons issued by a Lucknow court on the lawyer's complaint that Gandhi's statements were tantamount to incitement of enmity.
The comments pertain to the Savarkar remarks made by Gandhi on November 17, 2022, when he was in Akola, Maharashtra, during his Bharat Jodo Yatra.
"Bhavishya mein aise nahi chalega (it won't be so in the future)," the Lucknow bench said in its ruling dated April 4, as it directed that Gandhi should file a revision petition before the sessions court and so the high court need not intervene at this stage.
Gandhi was one of the leading opposition leaders in the Lok Sabha protesting against the issue. He also challenged the lower court's summon against him on the issue while contesting the proceedings going on against him.

Rahul Gandhi arrives in Kashmir
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday arrived in Kashmir to meet those injured in the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
The party leader said Gandhi is likely to visit the Army's Base Hospital in Badamibagh Cantonment here to enquire about the health of those injured in the attack on April 22 that left 26 people, mostly tourists, dead.
