Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and five other accused have been convicted for the murder of Ranjit Singh, who was killed in 2002.

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and five other accused have been convicted for the murder of Ranjit Singh, who was killed in 2002.
Ranjit Singh was a supporter of Dera Sacha Sauda's boss, Gurmeet Ram Rahim, and was assassinated on July 10, 2002. The CBI registered an FIR in the case of the murder of Ranjit Singh on December 3, 2003. The petition has was presented by Ranjit Singh's son, Jagseer Singh. Earlier this week, the High Court of Punjab and Haryana rejected a request to transfer the murder trial against Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh from the CBI Panchkula court to any other CBI court.
Now the CBI Special Court in Panchkula has sentenced Ram Rahim Singh and five other co-defendants under Section 302 (Murder) of the IPC. The verdict will be announced on October 12th. He was convicted by an IWC special court in Panchkula in August 2017. In 2019, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and three others were found guilty of the murder of journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati, who published an anonymous letter about the sexual exploitation of women by the head of Dera Sacha Sauda in his ashram.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim has also been cited as an accused in a case involving the theft of a "bir '' (copy) of Guru Granth Sahib from Burj Jawahar Singh Wala Gurdwara.
