Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim gets parole for 40 days
Gurmeet Ram Rahim was also convicted last year along with four others for hatching a conspiracy to kill Dera manager Ranjit Singh in 2002. The Dera chief and three others were also convicted in 2019 for the murder of a journalist more than 16 years ago.

Rape convict Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim gets parole for 40 days. Gurmeet Ram Rahim reached Dera Sacha Sauda Ashram in Barnawa. Ram Rahim reached Barnawa Ashram on Saturday morning. Preparations have been made in the ashram to welcome the Dera chief for his arrival. At the same time, as soon as he reached Barnawa Sacha Sauda Ashram, Dera chief Gurmeet Singh came live on social media and gave a message to his followers. He appealed to all the followers to maintain discipline and not to indulge in any kind of stampede.
Earlier Gurmeet Ram Rahim was out on parole thrice in 2021 and twice in 2022. He was out on parole for 21 days in February and a month in June. Ram Rahim was brought to Sunaria jail after his parole period expired on February 28. According to jail officials, he can seek parole for at least 40 days before December 31, 2022.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim is serving a 20-year jail term for raping two female followers at his ashram at the Dera headquarters in Sirsa. He was convicted by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Panchkula in August 2017. Gurmeet Ram Rahim was also convicted last year along with four others for hatching a conspiracy to kill Dera manager Ranjit Singh in 2002.
