Delhi Temperature Record 52.3°C: Delhi becomes the only state to experience the highest-ever temperature record this year. Reports from a temperature monitoring station in Delhi Mungeshpur reported that at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, May 29 Delhi recorded a 52.3 degree Celsius temperature.

Delhi has already experienced an intense heatwave for a few days back and even IMD reported that the temperature in Delhi is expected to rise more.

Delhi Mungeshpur weather department also said that they continuously checked the weather sensors to see whether it was giving the wrong reading. Still, whenever the department checked the temperature, it was showing the same degree.

However, Kuldeep Srivastava, a regional head of IMD explained the reason behind such an intense heatwave to the news agency PTI, “Parts of Delhi are particularly susceptible to the early arrival of these hot winds, worsening the already severe weather. Areas like Mungeshpur, Narela and Najafgarh are the first to experience the full force of these hot winds.”

The highest temperature was also seen in Phalodi, which was 51 degrees Celsius, and Kota, which was 50.8 degrees Celsius., both of these states in Rajasthan recorded severe heatwaves.

The highest temperature where also recorded in Sirsa, Haryana, which was 50.3 degrees Celsius.

Another reason for the temperature rise may be because of the last day of rain which has increased the humidity in Delhi.

However, the severe rise in temperature may cause many health problems such as heat stroke as there are a large number of people who travel in Delhi during the daytime and thus will increase the cause of heatstroke.

India Today reported, “Delhi's peak power demand also rose to an all-time high of 8,302 MW on Wednesday, according power discom officials. It is the first time in the history of the national capital that its power demand has crossed the 8,300-MW mark.”
