The maximum temperature was recorded as 40.9 degrees Celsius above normal and the minimum temperature was recorded at 28.8 degrees Celsius, one above normal. The humidity level in the air ranged from 41 to 77 percent. People were troubled by the humidity more than the heat of the sun. This was the reason that even the fans and coolers proved to be negligible.
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Thursday and has expressed the possibility of heavy rain. It will be cloudy throughout the day with a wind speed of 30 to 40 kmph and maximum mercury will reach 34 and minimum temperature will reach 27 degrees Celsius. According to meteorologists, the southwest monsoon is moving towards North India at the right speed. In this direction, there are chances of good rains in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Rajasthan, and East Uttar Pradesh also. The rainy season will start in Delhi on Thursday and will continue till July 6, due to which the summer season will end and people will get relief for a week.
