For the first time in ten months, the Delhi government has decided to open all schools only for class 10 and 12 students. The decision has been taken ahead of board examinations scheduled to be started from May 4.
According to the Delhi government, the purpose is to allow students to clear their doubts and clarification if any through face-to-face interaction with their respective subject teachers.
Besides all the practical and preparatory classes will be held from January 18. The state government has asked the schools to make the attendance optional so if a student doesn’t want to attend the school, it doesn’t make any difference to him.
It has also been made clear that schools that are in containment zones will not open and teachers residing in the containment zone areas will also not attend their respective schools.
Parents' consent is a must and all schools will follow appropriate Covid-19 protocol.
The Directorate of Education (DoE) released a circular on January 13 in which it said, “In order to conduct the activities pertaining to pre-board preparations and practical work, the head of government, aided and unaided recognised schools may call the students of classes 10 and 12 only to school with effect from January 18, 2021.”
The circular added that the child should be called to school only with the consent of parents, following the enclosed standard operating procedure.
“Further, while the records of children coming to school be maintained, the same should not be used for attendance purposes as sending the child to school is completely optional for parents,” the circular has said.
