Delhi Police Detain 7 Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants in Special Drive

The Delhi Police said Monday they have detained seven illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, including a minor, from the city and the National Capital Region (NCR) under a special drive.

Delhi Police Detain 7 Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants in Special Drive

Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants: The Delhi Police said Monday they have detained seven illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, including a minor, from the city and the National Capital Region (NCR) under a special drive.

The operation launched by the East Delhi police was conducted as part of an ongoing campaign against illegal immigrants to identify and deport individuals residing in the city without valid documents.

The arrests included 13 Bangladeshis from the South District and 11 from the South East District who were in illegal residence. The police are also examining the documentation of more than 10 additional individuals in these areas.

The detained people, Dilawar Khan (48), Beauty Begum (39), Rafikul (43), Tauhid (20), Md Azhar (28), Zakir Malik (40) and a 15-year-old minor girl, allegedly entered India illegally through river routes.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, East District, Abhishek Dhania said, "The illegal Bangladeshi immigrants had entered India via river routes near India-Bangladesh border. They were residing at various locations to evade detection. Their deportation process was initiated with the assistance of Foreigners Regional Registration Office".

"Based on secret intelligence, the police first detained Dilawar Khan in Krishna Nagar, Delhi. During interrogation he revealed his true identity and led to the discovery of six more individuals multiple raids were conducted at Laxmi Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Seemapuri (Delhi), and Shalimar Garden", Dhania added.

The seven illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, including a woman and a minor, have been detained with the persistent efforts of the joint teams of Special Staff and Anti-Narcotics Squad of East District, said DCP Dhania.

The DCP said the detainees will be produced before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), R.K, Puram, Delhi for their deportation.

He said two teams, one each under Special Staff Incharge Inspector Jitendra Malik and Anti-Narcotics Squad Incharge Inspector Arun Kumar, worked diligently as part of a coordinated operation overseen by Additional DCP/Ops, East District, Nithya Radha Krishna.
