Delhi Police Crime Branch cracks a case of firing at junior doctor to rob his car

A team of Inter-State Cell, Crime Branch, Delhi Police has worked out a blind firing incident upon a junior resident Doctor of Rao Tula Ram (RTR) hospital after working tirelessly, developing local and criminal intelligence, using modern technology, interrogating several persons and gang members and following exit route of assailants.

The unfortunate incident took place on February 7, 2022, while the doctor was present outside the Hospital. After relentless efforts made by the team two desperate criminals namely Dinesh and Nikhil have been arrested.

“On February 7, PCR call from RTRM Hospital was received at Police Station Jafarpur Kalan that someone fled away in Verna car after breaking the main gate of RTRM Hospital. The local Police reached the spot and found that the main gate of the hospital was broken and guard present there told that driver of the car bearing registration number DL 9CAW 3695 Verna White colour came speedily and he broke the main gate of the hospital while the gate of the hospital was closed,” Monika Bhardwaj, DCP, Crime Branch (ISC), Delhi, said.

After that assailants fled away towards Jafarpur village. During the enquiry, it came to notice that the car belongs to Dr Hemant, a JR in RTRM Hospital, who received a gunshot injury and he himself came in emergency for treatment. Dr Hemant was undergoing medical treatment and found unfit for statement.

Further on enquiry, it was revealed that two unknown assailants had tried to rob his car at gunpoint and upon his resistance, one of them fired upon him. Thereafter they fled away from the spot along with the car of the doctor.

On the same day, another PCR call was received at Police Station that Car No DL 9CAW 3695 was found near Krishna Mandir in Jafarpur village in accidental condition. During a further proceeding, a pistol along with the magazine, Made in USA MODAL STAR was lying on the main road near RTRM hospital which was thrown by an unidentified assailant who fled from the scene after shooting the doctor when he was entering his car parked outside the hospital near a tea stall.

It further came to notice that the doctor was thrown out of his car and the accused opened fire at him and one of the bullets hit the doctor on his face. the doctor was shifted to Akash Health Care Hospital situated at Sector 3 Dwarka for intensive care & treatment where Dr Hemant was found unfit for statement. In this regard, a case was registered at Police station Jafarpur Kalan.

There was resentment among the doctors and other staff of RTRM Hospital for this gruesome act as they felt unsafe to perform their duty at night. To crack the case and bust the whole gang, a team of Inter-state Crime Branch under the leadership of Insp. Shivraj Singh Bisht consisting of SI Ravinder Hooda, SI Mukesh, ASI Narender, ASI Abhey Singh, ASI Sanjay Tyagi, HC Raishuddin, HC Virender CT Satpal, Ct Amit and CT Mohit was constituted under the supervision of Umesh Barthwal, ACP/ISC and overall guidance & close supervision of Monika Bhardwaj, DCP/Crime.

The extensive hard work of the team bore fruit when the team was able to identify hideouts of accused persons in the area of Jhajjar, Haryana. The team mounted extensive surveillance upon their movements in the area.

On February 16, at about 6:15 PM acting upon secret information and technical surveillance, the team apprehended both the accused persons near Rawta More, Dhansa Road to Najafgarh road, Delhi while they were coming to Delhi for committing another Carjacking.

Both the accused persons were subjected to sustained interrogation. During course of investigation, accused Dinesh stated that he was 35 % shareholder of a wine shop in his village along with one Lalit which resulted in heavy loss.

After that, he bought an ECO car and started supplying illicit liquor in Delhi & NCR. In the month of September, he was apprehended by the staff of the police station of Sagarpur while supplying illicit liquor in his ECO car. In this case, his car was seized by the police and despite efforts, his car couldn’t be released.

To bear this loss he along with his associate Nikhil hatched a plan of carjacking at gunpoint from the area around Delhi and they decided that after committing carjacking they will place a fake number plate on the car so that same can be used for supply of illicit liquor.

For this purpose they had a number of Verna Car so they needed to rob a Verna car only to evade normal police checking. It is pertinent to mention here that accused Nikhil was also in extreme need of money as his widowed mother has borrowed money from her relatives on interest to start business for Nikhil in Subji Mandi, but he spent the said money.

Hence they hatched a conspiracy to rob a car from Delhi. Both searched the vehicle in area of Najafgarh and surrounding area. On February 7, 2022 when they were coming back to their village and reached near RTRM Hospital at about 8 PM they saw a white Verna car and owner was also standing there (Doctor).

“After some time he went to a tea stall. Within 5 to 10 minutes the doctor sat inside the car and immediately accused Dinesh @ Vicky took his position on rear seat of car while Nikhil was standing to the side of driver. Accused Dinesh @ Vicky threatened the doctor to get down from the car at gunpoint but he refused. The doctor immediately started his car while holding the barrel of pistol and drove his car towards the hospital, meanwhile, the doctor was pushed out of his car by accused Dinesh and he opened fire upon the doctor,” DCP Bhardwaj said.

She added, “One of the bullet hit the doctor on his face. At the same time, accused Nikhil managed to escape from the spot while accused Dinesh rammed the car in the gate of hospital which eventually damaged the car. The right side of tyre of car was punctured after moving about 2 KM and so the accused Dinesh abandoned the car near drain and fled away on foot through field, took lift from Motorcyclist and finally reached at his village at midnight where accused Nikhil also met him.”

Accused Dinesh @ Vicky purchased the pistol and live cartridges, used for committing the crime from Vinod who was resident of his native village. The motorcycle recovered from the accused persons is found stolen from Police Station Dabari, Dwarka.

The accused Dinesh @ Vicky was found involved in two cases under heads of Arms act and Excise case from PS Sector 31, Gurgram Haryana and Sagarpur, Delhi respectively. Both the accused persons are arrested and concerned police have been intimated to take further necessary action at their own end.

“Accused persons are being produced before Hon’ble Court in muffled face. Team as a whole did splendid performance by cracking the highlighted case with in short span of time,” DCP Bhardwaj said.
