Delhi Police Bust ISI Sleeper Cell Network; Two Agents Arrested in Covert Operation

Delhi Police Bust ISI Sleeper Cell Network: Intelligence agencies dismantled a high-stakes espionage ring in a meticulously planned three-month-long covert operation, dealing a significant blow to ISI's attempts to carry out a terrorist strike in the national capital. The operation culminated in the arrest of two highly trained individuals, including Ansarul Miya Ansari, a Pakistani operative tasked with gathering sensitive information about Indian armed forces, sources said.

The probe also points a finger of suspicion at some staffers of Pak High Commission in Delhi. It's suspected that ISI officers Muzammil and Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, who had been cultivating Indian YouTubers and influencers were in on the plot.

Intel teams learned that an attack in Delhi was in early planning stages, with the stolen intelligence expected to aid the plot. It wasn't until mid-February, however, that investigators caught a break. On February 15, Ansari was apprehended in central Delhi with military-related documents in his possession just as he was about to exit India using the same Nepal route.

"This was a high-stakes operation where our team stayed one step ahead throughout," the TOI report said, citing a source. "Our men were making efforts to collect information about Pak-backed terror outfits active in different parts of India and sleeper cells providing logistic support to them."

The probe has also raised concerns about the involvement of certain staffers at the Pakistani High Commission in Delhi. ToI reports that ISI officers Muzammil and Ehsan-ur-Rahim, alias Danish, who had been cultivating Indian YouTubers and influencers, may have played a role in the broader plot.

During the covert operation, intelligence operatives reportedly stayed a step ahead of the suspect throughout. A source told ToI, “Our men were actively collecting intel on Pak-backed terror outfit and sleeper cells across India. After grenade attacks on police stations in Punjab by Babbar Khalsa International, we sensed a bigger plan targeting public safety in northwest India.”

The entire operation remained confidential for several months, with officials working behind the scenes to track movement, collect evidence, and piece together the full picture. Only after solid evidence was gathered did the Delhi Police move ahead with the arrests and formal legal action.

With the chargesheet now filed and two men behind bars, investigators are continuing their efforts to uncover how widespread this ISI network might be, and whether more agents are still operating silently in different parts of the country.
