The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert regarding the increasing cold in many states. Yellow alert issued for cold waves in Uttarakhand from 18-21 December. On December 17, Ranichauri (-2.7 °C), Mukteshwar (0.2 °C), Mussoorie (0.9 °C), Pithoragarh (0.9 °C) and New Tehri (1.4 °C) were recorded.
The Meteorological Department has forecast that the mercury in Delhi can reach 5 degree Celsius by Sunday. Heavy snowfall has occurred in many parts of Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh. Its effect is being seen in the plains. According to the Meteorological Department, it will be cold on Sunday as well.
Extreme cold is being seen in Rajasthan. In many districts of the state, the temperature has gone down to zero and in some to minus. Churu recorded a minimum temperature of -1.1 degree Celsius this morning (December 18). People have also faced dense fog in the area this morning. According to the Meteorological Department, winter in the state will remain like this for the next three to four days i.e. till December 20-21. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of cold wave conditions in the state on Friday itself. The Meteorological Department has issued several reports including Hanumangarh, Ganganagar, Churu, Bikaner, Jhunjhunu.
