Delhi-NCR Earthquake Live Updates: On Monday morning, residents of North India experienced strong tremors. A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck Delhi-NCR around 5:30 a.m., followed by tremors in Bihar at around 8 a.m.
These shaking movements were felt most intensely by people living in high-rise buildings in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad, causing many to rush out of their homes in alarm.
The National Centre for Seismology, the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring earthquake activity in the country, said in an update that tremors were felt across north India, with Delhi as the epicentre. The quake's depth was just 5 km.

The epicentre was located near Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education in Dhaula Kuan, an official told PTI.
The area, which has a nearby lake, has experienced smaller, low-magnitude quakes every two to three years. In 2015, it recorded a 3.3 magnitude earthquake, the official said.
A loud sound was also heard when the earthquake struck, he added.
According to the officials, there have been no immediate reports of injuries or damage. However, the intensity of the tremors left many wondering why they felt so strong, despite the earthquake being only of moderate magnitude (4.0 on the Richter scale).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the residents of Delhi and nearby areas to stay calm and follow safety precautions. "Tremors were felt in Delhi and nearby areas. Urging everyone to stay calm and follow safety precautions, staying alert for possible aftershocks. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation," he wrote in a post on X.
"When I woke up, I felt a strong vibration and got scared. My wife and I immediately woke up our child and rushed outside," said Anil Kumar, a resident of Sita Ram Bazar.
Kumar said that he is also a heart patient, due to which he panicked even more, as he has never experienced such tremors before.
Anil, a resident of Nehru Nagar, said that he rushed out of his house with his two-year-old daughter.
"There was a loud sound and strong jolts. My wife and I were very scared. The first thing we did was pick up our daughter and rush outside," he said.
