New Delhi: Today is the last day of campaigning for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections to be held two days later i.e. on 4th December. The bustle campaigns of the election campaign will end by 5 pm today. All the political parties have put full force into the campaign. The counting of votes for 250 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will take place on December 7.
Today there is a program meeting of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with the yoga gurus of Delhi's Yogashala. On the other hand, on the last day of the election campaign BJP, there are 210 election programs of meetings, road shows, and door-to-door campaigns. Union ministers Piyush Goyal, Hardeep Puri, Anurag Thakur, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami, and UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya will also exert their strength in campaigning on the last day.
The fate of 1,349 candidates is at stake in the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections to be held on 4 December for 250 seats. Of these, 42 percent of candidates are crorepatis and six percent have serious criminal cases against them. These details have been given in the report of the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
This time, the number of women candidates has taken as a spotlight for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections. This is because the total number of women candidates is more than men. According to the Delhi State Election Commission, a total of 1,349 candidates are in the fray this time, of which 382 are independents. Of these, 709 female candidates and 640 male candidates are in the fray for the post of councilor in 250 wards. BJP, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Congress have fielded a large number of women candidates. In MCD anyway, 50 percent or 125 wards are reserved for women.
AAP and BJP have fielded their candidates in all 250 wards, while nominations of three Congress candidates were canceled due to technical reasons. As a result, now Congress is contesting in 247 wards instead of 250.
