AAP candidate Shaili Oberoi got a total of 150 votes in the election, while BJP candidate Rekha Gupta got 116 votes.

Shelly Oberoi of Aam Aadmi Party is the councilor from Ward No. 86 of Patel Nagar Vidhansabha of Delhi. Shaili Oberoi, 39, is a professor by profession. He has studied up to PhD. She had joined Aam Aadmi Party in 2013. As of 2020, Shelly Oberoi has been the Vice President of the Mahila Morcha of the Aam Aadmi Party. Shelly Oberoi became the corporator for the first time by defeating the BJP candidate by 269 votes.

Shelly had defeated BJP's Deepali Kapoor from Ward No. 86 of Patel Nagar Assembly. The special thing is that the ward from which he contested the election of councilor on Aam Aadmi Party ticket is considered to be the stronghold of Adesh Gupta, former president of Bharatiya Janata Party. Now Shaili has won the election of Delhi Mayor by defeating BJP candidate Rekha Gupta. Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal congratulated Shelly Oberoi on winning the mayoral election. CM Kejriwal tweeted that today the people of Delhi won and hooliganism was defeated in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

The BJP, which was in power for 15 years, had to face defeat in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections held in December 2022. BJP had won 104 seats in MCD elections, while Aam Aadmi Party had defeated BJP's plans by winning 134 seats. Congress got 9, while others got 3 seats.
