The BJP, which was in power for 15 years, had to face defeat in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections held in December 2022. BJP had won 104 seats in MCD elections, while Aam Aadmi Party had defeated BJP's plans by winning 134 seats. Congress got 9, while others got 3 seats.
