Delhi Air Quality Index Hits 'Severe' Levels; Haryana Implements Partial School Closures

Delhi AQI severe: In several areas in Delhi, the air quality index (AQI) was placed under the "severe" category for the fifth consecutive day on Sunday. As per the official reports, a total of 14 areas in the national capital recorded AQI levels above 400, which is considered to be under the severe category.
Areas such as Lodhi Road, Burari Crossing, and Sri Aurobindo Marg are the only ones that recorded an AQI below 350.
As per the Sameer app, which updates Air Quality Index published by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi recorded an AQI of 428, or "severe" category, around 7 a.m. on Sunday.

The Bawana station recorded the highest AQI of 471, while areas such as Jahangirpuri, Ashok Vihar, Mundka, Vivek Vihar, Rohini, and Anand Vihar recorded AQI above 450.
As per the reports, there are six categories of AQI: ‘Good’ (0-50), ‘Satisfactory’ (51-100), ‘Moderately polluted’ (101-200), ‘Poor’ (201-300), ‘Very Poor’ (301-400), and ‘Severe’ (401-500).
On November 15, several restrictions under GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan) were implemented after the national capital recorded continuous air quality readings above 400.
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) issued an order to implement these guidelines, which include halting construction and demolition activities in the NCR, suspending all non-essential mining operations, and restricting interstate buses that are not electric, CNG-powered, or BS-VI compliant.
Furthermore, all schools in Delhi-NCR are suggested to move to online classes for students up to Class 5.
