Delhi Air Pollution: Delhi's air becomes poisonous after Diwali
The National Capital Region (NCR) witnessed several violations on the night of Diwali, while firecrackers were banned and the Supreme Court refused to hear a petition challenging the ban but even after this the air of Delhi has been polluted.
With the onset of winters, cities in North India face a major challenge of tackling air pollution every year. Around Diwali, the challenge gets bigger. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi is in the 323 (very poor) category.

Apart from Delhi, the level of air pollution has also increased in Moradabad of Uttar Pradesh. Locals say, 'Pollution level has increased.' A local says, “This year the pollution is less as compared to last year. Firecrackers are burnt for a day but pollution persists throughout the year.
