Delhi- 2019 Jamia rioting case- JNU student Sharjeel Imam denied bail
Judge Anuj Agarwal denied Imam the bail said the custody and plain reading of the speech show it was on communal lines.

A student of Jawaharlal Nehru University, Sharjeel Imam didn’t get bail by a Delhi court on Friday in connection with delivering an inflammatory speech that incited violence in 2019. The court saw that the speech was on communal lines and the content of the speech tended to have a debilitating effect on peace and harmony.
According to Delhi Police, Iman delivered a speech during the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens which was provocative in nature on 13th December 2019 which led to riots two days later when a mob of around 3000 people attacked cops and torched vehicles in Delhi’s Jamia Nagar.
Anuj Agarwal said the cursory and plain reading of the speech shows that it was on communal lines. The tone and tenor of the incendiary speech tend to have a debilitating effect upon public peace and harmony.
