"The very fact of being a vegetarian in today's India deserves to be called a curse. Zomato has, with its latest masterstroke introduction of an 'extra charge for veg enablement fleet', turned us into a premium subscription plan," the customer posted, adding that veganism comes with a "luxury tag."
The user tagged Goyal and Zomato in his post.
A day later, the billionaire CEO posted a response to his post detailing his profuse apologies for what he deemed an "absolutely stupid" action on Zomato's part.
"This is absolutely stupid on our part. I am super sorry for this. This charge will be removed today itself. Will also fix what’s needed to fix in the team so that such s**t doesn’t happen again," Goyal replied to the customer in the comments section.

The customer thanked Deepinder Goyal for his swift action and response.
“What truly surprised me during this journey was successfully driving this idea from the ideation phase to execution while also securing senior stakeholder approval," Rohit Ranjan told Goyal on LinkedIn.
Zomato launched its "pure veg mode" last March to help serve vegetarians. Once enabled, it only showed vegetarian dishes from restaurants or vegetarian food "pure veg restaurants." After users were annoyed with the company's initiative of varying the "pure veg mode" by coloring delivery agents green, the company announced their reversal of the on-ground segregation plans during the back-and-forth default. At that time, Goyal said all delivery agents would continue to wear the company's hallmark red attire.
