In the Afghanistan's western province of Badgis, the casuality number has increased to 22 after the 5.6 magnitude Earthquake hit the city. An official confirmed this on Tuesday. The director of information and culture for Badghis province, told Xinhua news agency that "The latest data from our local sources shows that Monday's earthquake in Qadis district killed 22 people and injured five others."
As per the official reports, "At least 1,000 homes were destroyed in Qadis in neighboring Mukur district as well as in the provincial capital Kala-i-Nau. Local officials are visiting the affected areas in Badgis and monitoring the situation. They will try to coordinate the work of providing relief assistance to the affected people.
The US Geological Survey has stated that the 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck 40 km east of the city of Kala-e-Nau, bordering Turkmenistan. The epicenter of the earthquake with a depth of 10.0 km was discovered at 34.9479 degree north latitude and 63.5686 degree east longitude.
