Deadly attack on youth in Ahmednagar for posting in support of Nupur Sharma
The police officer said that the youth injured in the incident has been identified as Prateek alias Sunny Rajendra Pawar. Initial police investigation revealed that on the evening of August 4, 10 to 15 youths from the Muslim community first stopped Prateek along with his friend Amit at Akkabai Chowk and later attacked him with swords and sticks.

A new case of deadly attack on a youth has come to light for posting in support of Nupur Sharma. The incident is from Ahmednagar in Maharashtra. According to the information received from the police, the incident took place on the evening of August 4. The police officer said that the youth injured in the incident has been identified as Prateek alias Sunny Rajendra Pawar. Initial police investigation revealed that on the evening of August 4, 10 to 15 youths from the Muslim community first stopped Prateek along with his friend Amit at Akkabai Chowk and later attacked him with swords and sticks. Prateek has suffered serious injuries in the incident. According to the police officer, Prateek's friend Amit, who was present on the spot at the time of the incident, told the police that before beating up the accused youth, Prateek was saying that people like you are supporting Nupur Sharma's statement and posting this on social sites. Because of this others are also supporting him. Currently, on the complaint of Prateek's friend Amit, the Karjat Police has registered a case against 5 to 7 including Shahrukh Khan Pathan, Sohail Pathan, Nihal Khan Pathan, Ilail Sheikh, Tipu Pathan, Abar alias Arbaaz Kasam Pathan, Arshad Pathan, Aqib Syed. Tax investigation has started.
Earlier, Kanhaiyalal in Udaipur and Umesh Kolhe in Amravati were murdered for posting on social media in support of Nupur Sharma. In the Umesh Kolhe murder case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had taken all the seven accused into custody. An officer had told that the NIA has taken all the accused into custody. He was taken on a four-day transit remand on Monday after being produced in the Amaravati court.
The officer had said that the accused are likely to be produced before the NIA court in Mumbai on or before July 8. Police Commissioner Arti Singh had said on Monday that the Amravati police had found a link between a social media post involving former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and the murder of Umesh Kolhe during the investigation and the matter was not suppressed. The first murder did not disclose the "extremely sensitive" nature of the case and the information to avoid any untoward incident.
