DDLJ turns 25: Here's why Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and their fans feel elated

Bollywood film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as lead stars, completes 25 years on October 20. Aditya Chopra's directorial debut, the movie had worldwide released on the same day in 1995. It emerged as one of the iconic movies.

Though the two stars debuted together in Baazigar, DDLJ was their second movie which established them as a romantic pair. Post-DDLJ, they created magical on-screen chemistry and produced some hit romantic movies such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and My Name Is Khan. 

While Shah Rukh plays the character of Raj Malhotra, Kajol portrays Simran. The two fall in love during their trip to Europe. A simple and straight love story charm the movie lovers even today for the exceptional acting acumen, mesmerising music and songs.

It is said that DDLJ made Shah Rukh the first superstar of the millennials. Also, Shah Rukh-Kajol romantic pair drew a parallel with the yesteryears romantic hit pairs such as Raj Kapoor-Nargis and Dharmendra-Hema Malini.

"25 years!!! Filled with gratitude towards you for loving Raj & Simran, with all your heart. This always feels special," Shah Rukh Khan tweeted.

Kajol too expressed her thanks and tweeted, "Raj & Simran! 2 people, 1 film, 25 years and the love doesn't stop coming in!"

"I am truly grateful to all the people who made it what it is today.. a phenomenon and a part of their own history. The fans! Big shoutout to all of you♥️," She said.
