D Gukesh vs Magnus Carlsen: Six months after winning the title of FIDE World Championship, D Gukesh is finally returning to classical chess, and he now faces as tough a challenge as he could hope for. For his first game since his thrilling Game 14 victory as World Champion over Ding Liren in Singapore, Gukesh faces Magnus Carlsen - without question the greatest player ever to play the game - at the Norway Chess tournament in Stavanger.

Gukesh made history as the youngest world champion, and is regarded by many as the brightest prospect in classical chess, known for his ultra-sharp calculation. However, he will be facing Carlsen, a five-times world champion, and generally regarded as the greatest classical chess player of all time. Carlsen has recently reduced his activities in the classical format to pursue other interests, though he is still the top seed and favourite in his own country.
