CWG 2022: After winning gold, Mirabai said - World Championship next goal, this medal for my family and coach

CWG 2022: After winning gold, Mirabai said - World Championship next goal, this medal for my family and coach

India's legendary weightlifter Mirabai Chanu has won India's first gold in the 2022 Commonwealth Games. He lifted a total of 201 kg in the 49 kg weight category and won the gold medal. Mirabai Chanu is very happy with this victory. She is seeing this victory as preparation for the World Championship. Also, she has dedicated this medal to his family and coach.

After the victory, Mirabai said-" I am very happy to have won the medal. This competition was the most important for me after the Tokyo Olympics. I also made records, I am very happy with that too. I had prepared a lot for this competition. I thought my fight in the Commonwealth Games was with myself. I have succeeded by winning medals."

On not being able to lift 90 kg, Mirabai said – I missed a little. However, next time I will definitely try to lift 90 kg and try to be successful. Mirabai lifted the weight of 88 kg in the snatch round. At the same time, there was no one even close to him in clean and jerk. He lifted 113 kg in clean and jerk. In this way, Mirabai lifted a total of 201 kg.

Mary Runivosova won the silver with a total weight of 172 kg and Hana Kaminsky of Canada took the bronze with a total lift of 171 kg. Mirabai won the first gold for India at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. After this won the first medal (silver) for India in the Tokyo Olympics. Now after winning the first gold for India in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Meera said – It gives me great happiness. Every time I won the first medal. I would like to tell all the players that they must win some medal for India.

Mirabai said- I am ready for the world championship. This victory has made my preparation stronger. I want to dedicate this medal to my coach Vijay and my family. My family has supported me a lot. My coach Vijay has supported me a lot and always helped me through tough times. This medal is for him too.
