The Central Pollution Control Board, under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, on Wednesday announced the Air Quality Index of 148 cities across the country.
The Central Pollution Control Board, under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, on Wednesday announced the Air Quality Index of 148 cities across the country. Out of the exhaustive list, 35 cities fall under the “Good” category, 75 under “Satisfactory”, 37 under the “Moderate” category, while 1 city has been classified under the "Poor" category.
The national capital, Delhi has been classified under the "Moderate" category, with an index value of 139. The possible health impacts of cities under the Moderate category include Breathing discomfort for people with lungs, asthma, and heart diseases, while the cities categorized under Satisfactory might result in minor breathing discomfort to sensitive people. The AQI has been calculated as the average Index in the last 24 hours.
Chandigarh, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, Noida, and Gurugram has been categorized under the Moderate category, while cities like Mumbai and Nagpur fall under the Satisfactory category. In case you want to check the AQI of your city, click here.
