COVID-19: Record 1.59 lakh cases in a day, positivity rate rises to 10.21%

In the last 24 hours ended at 9 am on Sunday, January 9 in India, 1,59,632 new Covid-19 (COVID-19) cases have been registered while 327 infected patients have died during this period. The number of active corona cases in the country has reached 5,90,611 with 40,863 infected people recovering during this period. According to the latest official data of the Ministry of Health, the current daily positivity rate in India is 10.21%.

With 616 new cases of new variant Omicron of Corona in a day, the total cases of Omicron in India have now reached 3,623. So far, Omicron has been reported in 27 states, with Maharashtra having the highest number of 1,009 cases. After this there are 513 infections in Delhi.

After the latest figures, the death toll due to corona has reached 4,83,790. Till now 151.58 crore doses of vaccine have been administered in India.

The current active cases account for 1.66 percent of the total infections so far while the recovery rate of COVID-19 at the national level has come down to 96.98 percent. According to the data updated by the Ministry of Health on the morning of Sunday, January 9, the active COVID-19 caseload has registered an increase of 1,18,442 cases in a 24-hour period.
