Corona vaccine dose figure crosses 200 crores, achievement achieved in 546 days

The number of doses given so far of corona vaccine in India has crossed 200 crores. This achievement has been achieved in 546 days. It took 277 days to reach the 100 crore vaccine figure. August 27, 2021 was the first time when 1 crore vaccine doses were administered in a day. So far, the maximum 2.5 crore doses in a day were taken on September 17, 2021 but there is no enthusiasm among the people regarding the booster dose. In India, the number of corona vaccinations reached 100 crores on 21 October 2021 and then this target was accomplished in 277 days, whereas it has taken about the same number of days to reach 100 to 200 crores but the worrying thing is that so far only 5.62 crore people have been able to get the booster dose whereas in many countries of the world, the fourth dose has also been given to the citizens.

The booster dose of Covishield was earlier Rs 780 and that of Covaccine was Rs 1410, which was later reduced. However, even then there was no enthusiasm among the people towards the booster dose.

According to official data as of 16 July 2022, more than 1.04 crore healthcare workers have taken the first dose of the Covid vaccine in two years, while more than 10 million of them have also taken the second dose and 60.19 lakhs have taken the precaution i.e. booster dose. Among the frontline workers too, 1.84 crore first dose, 1.74 crore both doses and 1.14 crore booster doses have been taken but people above the age of 18 are not showing any enthusiasm about the booster dose.

The introduction of booster doses for the elderly started four months ago. Of these, 12.73 crores have taken the first dose, 12.15 crores have taken the second dose but only 2.81 crores have taken the precaution dose so far.
