Congress President Election: Ashok Gehlot announced, will definitely fight for the post of Congress President

The Congress party has issued a notification for the election of the President tomorrow i.e. on 22 September. With this, the process of choosing the person who will hold the highest office of the oldest political party in the country has formally started. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday said that he will definitely contest for the post of Congress President. Gehlot also said that any decision on his successor in the event of his being elected as the Congress president would be taken by the current party president Sonia Gandhi.

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot in Kochi, Kerala Emphasizing the unity in the party, Gehlot said that whoever wins the elections, all of them will have to work together to strengthen the Congress at all levels. CM Gehlot said that when the Congress Committee is passing this resolution that you (Rahul Gandhi) should become the President, then you should accept it. I tried to talk to him a lot. He says that we have decided that this time no Gandhi family person will become the candidate.

Ashok Gehlot further said that I will confirm the date now. Gehlot said that it is certain that I will contest (for the post of Congress President). It is very important for the opposition to be strong for the condition of the country and we will leave no stone unturned for that. Asked about Rahul Gandhi's 'one man, one post' statement in the context of Congress leadership and his possible successor as chief minister if the election is won, Gehlot said the current party president Sonia Gandhi and the party in Rajasthan Ajay Maken, in-charge of the cases, will take a decision in this regard.
