Congress Nominates Kanhaiya Kumar as LS Candidate: Alumnus of the prestigious university has perhaps never had such a meteoric rise as Kanhaiya Kumar, even though critics have linked him with the "tukde tukde gang", or secessionist supporters.
In 2021, Kumar joined the Congress and became a national spokesperson and the head of the party's student wing, the National Students' Union.
A national face of the Communist Party of India, he ran for national office from Begusarai in Bihar in 2019 but lost to Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP's) Giriraj Singh.
On Sunday, the Congress fielded Kanhaiya Kumar from North East Delhi against BJP's Manoj Tiwari. The Grand Old Party announced ten Lok Sabha candidates, including three from Delhi.

As a two-time representative from this constituency, Tiwari defeated former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
On April 5, state Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely informed the party's Central Election Committee that he would not contest the Lok Sabha elections, a party leader said. Kumar thus became certain to run in Delhi.
In addition to Jairam Ramesh, Kumar has the support of JP Agarwal (Chandni Chowk) and Udit Raj (North West Delhi).
In 2014, BJP candidate Udit Raj won the North West Delhi seat on the ticket of Congress leader J.P Agarwal.
Additionally, the party fielded Charanjit Singh Channi from Jalandhar for six seats.
As well, the Grand Old Party announced Ujjwal Rewati Raman Singh as its candidate. Delhi will hold elections on May 25, and votes will be counted on June 4.
Supreme Court hear Kejriwal's Plea
In the now-scrapped 2021-22 Delhi excise policy case, Arvind Kejriwal will appeal a Delhi high court decision dismissing his petition against his arrest and subsequent remand in the Supreme Court on Monday.
According to the high court, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had sufficient evidence to justify Kejriwal's arrest. The ED had summoned Kejriwal nine times in the case, but he did not appear.
