‘Congress Leniency Led to Waqf Boards Flouting Norms,’ Alleges Kangana Ranaut
After two days of uproar in both Houses of Parliament, the Waqf Amendment Bill was passed.

Congress Leniency Led to Waqf Boards Flouting Norms: According to BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, the Congress has exhibited unrelenting laxity with regard to Waqf boards, which has allowed these boards to “disregard rules.”
Ranaut, speaking at a public meeting in her constituency of Mandi Lok Sabha, alleged that "a big conspiracy" was hatched to set up Waqf boards even before independence.

“The entire country is suffering till now because of that, she alleged,” PTI quoted the actor-turned-politician as saying.
Ranaut assured that the newly introduced legislation would tackle the issue involving “massive encroachments.”
Huge tracts of land, she alleged, were being grabbed in the name of a Waqf board.
Kangana termed Waqf bill passage in Parliament 'historic'
On the other hand, the statement made by Ranaut on Thursday deemed the Waqf Amendment Bill a historic one, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for applying binding effect to the legal loopholes.

"Today is a historic day. The reason we are witnessing this significant moment in our country is due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now, just think about how many such systems exist that affect the country, and yet, it is hard to believe. Can anything be above the law in this country?" ANI had quoted her as saying.
The Waqf Amendment Bill had a hurried passage after a couple of days with hot debates in both Houses.
The Government presented its revised Bill after accepting the recommendations of the joint Parliamentary Committee that scrutinized the Bill introduced in August last year. The Bill aims to amend the Act of 1995 to bring about an improvement in the management and administration of the waqf properties all across India.
The Bill has been formulated to overcome the inadequacies of the earlier Act and ensure more efficient functioning of their respective Waqf boards in enhancing their registration procedure and increasing the use of technology in the maintenance of waqf records.
In the Rajya Sabha, the Bill was passed with 128 making up the pro-vote and 95 opposing it. Early Thursday, the Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha with 288 in favor and 232 against it.
