Condolences flood in for Congress politician Indira Hridayesh, who died in New Delhi
Indira Hridayesh, a Congress leader and the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Uttarakhand Assembly, died of cardiac arrest on Sunday at the Uttarakhand Sadan in Delhi.

Indira Hridayesh, a veteran Congress lawmaker and the Opposition Leader in the Uttarakhand Assembly, died on Sunday in Delhi. She died early Sunday morning at Uttarakhand Sadan. Hridayesh suffered a heart attack, according to party leaders and her staff.
Indira Hridayesh died on Sunday, and Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat expressed his condolences in New Delhi, saying she had played a key role in the politics of both Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand for four decades.
"Dr. Indira Hridayesh Ji was at the forefront of several community service efforts. She made a mark as an effective legislator and also had rich administrative experience. Saddened by her demise. Condolences to her family and supporters. Om Shanti" PM tweeted.

Hridayesh, an MLA from Haldwani in the Nainital district, was a prominent face of the party in the Kumaon region and a contender of the party's CM face in the state.
From 2012 until 2017, Hridayesh served as the Finance Minister of Uttarakhand and held the ministries of legislative affairs, higher education, and planning in the Harish Rawat-led Congress government.
She had joined the party's protest against rising petrol prices in Haldwani on Friday. She had attended a 2022 election planning conference in Delhi on Saturday evening and had asked her close confidants in Uttarakhand to start preparations for a parivartanrath yatra.
