Cold Update : Temperature below zero in many places in North India, 2.4 in Delhi
According to the Meteorological Department, the condition of cold wave is prevailing in the national capital Delhi. Delhi's Safdarjung Observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 2.4 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. The minimum temperature was recorded here on Monday at 1.4 degree Celsius.

The temperature in many cities of North India has gone below zero. In this sense, the national capital Delhi definitely has some relief. Fresh snowfall in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla has resulted in cold wind blowing in the neighboring states. An official of the India Meteorological Department gave this information on Tuesday.
According to this official, a drop of 1-3 degree Celsius has been recorded in the minimum temperature in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, East Rajasthan, North-West Madhya Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh. The lowest minimum temperature of -3.7°C was recorded at Fatehpur in Rajasthan. Severe cold wave will continue in Delhi for three days from Wednesday.

According to the India Meteorological Department, two western disturbances are likely to affect northwest India on January 18 and 20. Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions very likely over many parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi till January 18 and further over isolated parts of East Rajasthan on January 19. Till January 19, cold wave conditions may prevail in different parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Meanwhile, fog continues to wreak havoc on rail services. According to a Northern Railway spokesperson, at least 15 trains were running late by an hour to eight hours on Tuesday due to fog. The Palam Observatory, located near the Indira Gandhi International Airport, recorded a visibility level of 500 metres.
