CM Yogi gave 'Diwali gift', increased dearness allowance by 4%, bonus also announced

The Uttar Pradesh government, while giving a Diwali gift to the state employees and pensioners, has announced a four percent increase in the rate of dearness allowance and dearness relief from July 1. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave this information by tweeting on Monday night.

The Chief Minister's Twitter handle read, "The Government of Uttar Pradesh has increased the rate of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief to state employees and pensioners/family pensioners from the existing 34% to 38% with effect from July 1, 2022."

Making another important announcement in the same tweet, the Chief Minister said, "It has been decided to give a bonus of Rs 6,908 to each employee for the financial year 2021-22." The central government had recently increased the DA of central employees by four percent.

The increased dearness allowance and dearness relief will be paid along with the salary and pension of this month i.e. October. This will result in an expenditure of Rs 296 crore on the exchequer every month. The total expenditure of the dues from July to October will come to Rs 1184 crore. Under this, Rs 387 crore will be deposited in the GPF of the employees coming under the old pension system. For the balance Rs 797 crore will be paid in cash.
