China Coronavirus: About 60 thousand people died from Corona last month

There is an outcry in China over the Corona virus. Since last month till now, lakhs of cases of corona have been reported across the country and several thousand people have died. China's National Health Commission said on Saturday that between December 8, 2022 and January 12, 2023, 59,938 people died in the country due to the corona virus. This information has come to light from China when the World Health Organization (WHO) said that Beijing is grossly under-reporting the magnitude of the epidemic. Xiao Yahui, director of the Department of Medical Affairs of the National Health Commission, said that 5503 deaths were recorded in China due to respiratory problems due to Covid infection.

Apart from this, 54,435 people have died due to Covid infection, however, it also includes cancer and heart disease patients. The South China Morning Post reported in its report that the average age of those who died of the corona virus in China was 80.3 years, while 90 percent of those who died were over 65 years old. With this, China's official death toll rose to 65,210 since the coronavirus first broke out in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019.

China has stopped giving daily Covid figures after abandoning its strict zero Covid policy. China also reopened its borders to international travelers on January 8 after almost three years. The latest figures released by China include reports of hospitals and funerals across the country. Earlier, Michael Ryan, director of WHO's emergency health program in Geneva, said that the death toll from Corona in China was being shown very low.
