Child sexual abuse day will be celebrated on November 18, resolution passed in the United Nations General Assembly
Under this proposal, every year on November 18, all over the world, the day will be observed as the prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse, abuse and violence.
The United Nations General Assembly on Monday approved a resolution to celebrate November 18 as a day aimed at highlighting the sexual abuse and abuse of children. The day will also be used to emphasize the need for crime prevention, bringing perpetrators to justice and making victims stand out as part of a longer process.
The proposal was put forward by the African countries of Sierra Leone and Nigeria and supported by more than 110 countries. It was passed unanimously to thunderous applause. Sierra Leone's first lady to move the motion, Fatima Mada Bio, has called child sexual abuse a 'heinous crime'.
He said, "Prevention is an emergency, but it is possible." Under this proposal, every year on November 18, all over the world, the day will be observed as the prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse, abuse and violence.
