Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached Joshimath in Chamoli district on Saturday afternoon. He inspected the landslide here. During this, the Chief Minister said that Joshimath is our mythological city. Uttarakhand government is alert on this matter. Our aim is to save everyone. An alternative place is being searched for the displacement of the affected.

The work of rescuing and providing relief to the distressed families due to landslide in Joshimath has been started on a war footing. An eight-member expert team led by the Disaster Management Secretary is in Joshimath for two days. The government has made preparations to immediately vacate the danger zone in Joshimath and set up a rehabilitation center at a safer place. Along with setting up a disaster control room in Joshimath, preparations have been made for air lift facility for the affected people if required.
Planned construction should be done according to the carrying capacity. Joshimath city is situated in old landslide area. In such a situation, apart from checking its carrying capacity, permission should be given for construction there in a planned manner only on the basis of this. The committee of scientists constituted by the government last year had given this suggestion in its report on the problem of landslide in Joshimath.
