Chennai Metro Blue Line Service Disrupted Between Meenambakkam and Airport Metro Stations: On Wednesday, through an X post the Chennai Metro Rail announced that due to some ‘technical glitch,’ the metro services between Meenambakkam and Airport Metro Stations have been disrupted.
Passengers who are traveling to Chennai airport are requested to get off at Arignar Anna Alandur Metro Station and from there they are requested to take the green line to the airport.
The X post from Chennai Metro Rail further said, “Direct Metro Trains between Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.Ramachandran Central Metro and Airport is canceled for the day.”
It further added, “Passengers traveling to Airport via Green Line to interchange at Arignar Anna Alandur Metro Station. Metro Trains will run as per weekday schedule. Both Green & Blue Line is functioning normally. We are working on resolving the issue and further information will be updated soon. We regret the inconvenience caused.”

Only the trains between Meenambakkam and Airport Metro have been disrupted, other station trains are working as usual.
The Blue Line trains run from Wimco Nagar Depot to Chennai International Airport among which the last two stations have been affected by a technical glitch, the rest 24 station services are working fine so passengers do not need to worry.
The officials said they were working to fix the problem and apologized for the trouble it caused the passengers. There are direct train services between Chennai Central and Chennai Airport Stations, which are used by a lot of people, especially during rush hours.
On August 2023, a similar issue happened that led to trains between Little Mount and Chennai airport being canceled, the sudden decision from the Chennai metro rail during working hours created problems for a lot of passengers, leading to them being delayed to their offices.
The Chennai Metro Blue Line started their service in September 2016, these trains have four coaches and can go as fast as 80 mph. On a standard gauge track, the lines above carry 25 kilovolts AC.
According to the reports, as of 2023 the Chennai metro blue line has a daily ridership of 0.25 million as it is an important source of transportation for the Chennai people. However, phrase 2 of the Chennai Metro 20 km increase route from Taramani to Siruseri SIPCOT is still under construction and should be finished in 2026.
