For three consecutive days, the fire at Bhagirath Palace is not taking the name of calm. Even after three days, the work of extinguishing the fire has not been completed. Meanwhile, on Saturday morning, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena himself reached the spot along with the officers. Here he took information about the entire incident from the officials. Along with this, a multi-disciplinary committee has been formed for a permanent solution to such incidents happening here. This committee will work for this not only in Chandni Chowk but also in Sadar Bazar and Paharganj. In this, after talking to all the stakeholders, work will be done on its permanent solution.
Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar and Director of Delhi Fire Department Atul Garg were also present along with the Lieutenant Governor who reached Chandni Chowk. The Lieutenant Governor inquired about the entire incident. Also inquired about the ongoing work to extinguish the fire. After the inspection of Chandni Chowk, the Lieutenant Governor tweeted that he visited the site of fire at Bhagirath Palace, Chandni Chowk where the cooling work is going on now. Hanging wires, overloaded circuits, old buildings, water scarcity and narrow streets are dangerously vulnerable to fire. He further wrote in the next tweet that a multi-disciplinary committee should be constituted to look into ways and means to effectively address these issues with the active participation of residents and other stakeholders in the areas of Chandni Chowk, Sadar Bazar, Paharganj etc. Have been asked to submit the report in 30 days.
Traders Association has claimed loss of several hundred crores in business due to fire in Bhagirath Palace for three days. According to the Confederation of All India Trades (CAIT), 250 shopkeepers have suffered losses due to this incident. It is difficult to estimate the number of shops that have been affected by the fire so far, said CAT's Delhi State President Vipin Ahuja, but considering the nature of the fire, about 250 shops are expected to be affected by the fire. He said that it is difficult to even estimate the damage caused by this fire. Once the situation is restored, CAT will assess it by calling a meeting of all the traders associations of the area in consultation with Ajay Sharma, President of Delhi Electrical Traders Association.
