Central Government instructs states to incorporate new instructions in Covid Testing.

The Central Government has instructed the States and Union Territories to increase the testing of COVID-19, but in a strategic manner. This has been done due to the increase in number of the Covid infected patients. The Ministry of Health has said to the the States and Union Territories that, "In view of the increasing positivity rate of corona in specific areas, corona testing should be increased strategically there."

Aarti Ahuja, Additional Secretary in the Union Health Ministry, in a letter to the States and Union Territories, has advised them to pay immediate attention to this aspect and increase the testing of corona in a strategic manner keeping in mind the increasing corona cases in specific areas.

The Omnicron variant has become a driving factor of the third wave of the Covid pandemic. The ministry further added that, "The data of the Indian Council of Medical Research shows that there has been a decrease in Covid testing in some states and union territories, while the cases of corona and Omicron variants have increased during this period." The decrement in testing should not happen as that will hinder the fight against the virus.
