The NDA government at the Centre focuses on promoting the startup culture in the country. Keeping those efforts and spirit alive, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to many startups via video conferencing.
There were six themes - Growing from Roots; Nudging the DNA; From Local to Global; Technology of Future; Building Champions in Manufacturing; and Sustainable Development – on which the startups gave their presentations to the Prime Minister.
Based on the above-mentioned six themes, over 150 startups were divided into six working groups and presented their concepts to the PM.
“For each theme, there were presentations by two Startup representatives, who spoke on behalf of all the startups selected for that particular theme,” a statement released by the PMO said.
It added, “During their presentation, the startup representatives thanked the Prime Minister for the opportunity to provide such a platform to share their ideas, and praised his vision and support to the startup ecosystem.”
Those who were present at the event were Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Ashwini Vaisnaw, Sarbananda Sonowal, Parshottam Rupala, G. Kishan Reddy, Pashupati Kumar Paras, Dr Jitendra Singh, and Som Parkash among others.
PM Modi said that holding the Start-Up India Innovation week is all the more important in this year of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav as the role of the Start-Ups will be critical when Indian freedom reaches its centenary year.
PM Modi said, “I congratulate all the start-ups of the country, all the innovative youth, who are raising the flag of India in the world of start-ups. For this culture of start-ups to reach the far-flung parts of the country, it has been decided to celebrate January 16 as National Start-up Day.”
