CBI raids 50 places in corruption case in Food Corporation of India

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) teams have raided more than 50 places. It is being told that raids have been done in many states including Haryana, Punjab and Delhi. These raids are being conducted at the premises of the owners of Grains Mills including the officials of the Food Corporation of India (FCI). An FCI officer has also been arrested in this case. The Central Bureau of Investigation will also investigate the role of the state governments in this matter. This scam was going on by declaring poor quality grains as good quality.
Sources said the agency has launched a drive against the "nefarious nexus of corruption" in the FCI, which includes a range of officials, rice mill owners, grain traders, etc., engaged in procurement, storage and distribution of food grains. He said that the CBI was developing intelligence for the last six months following several complaints. The role of state government employees will also come under scrutiny.
