CBI arrests Navy officers in case of information leak
The top brass of the government which includes the agencies looking after national security has been given a briefing on the status of the investigations.
The Indian Navy has been giving assistance in the ongoing investigations by the Central agency and given its men for questioning by investigating officers, said the defense sources. The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a serving Indian Navy Officer with two retired ones in connection with the leakage of confidential information related to the modernization of a kilo-class submarine going. Top government sources told ANI after the developments took place last month, the Indian Navy ordered a high-level probe under a Vice Admiral and a Rear Admiral to probe the leakage of information and look for ways to avoid any incident in the future.
The sources said, After getting inputs from agencies concerned, the CBI arrested a serving Navy officer of the rank of Commander who is currently posted in Mumbai for passing on unauthorized information related to the Kilo-class submarine modernization project to retired officers.
