The cabinet may be expanded in Maharashtra today. According to sources, in view of the cabinet expansion, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has canceled all his tours on Tuesday. CM Shinde was about to go to Nanded and Hingoli. The Muharram holiday of Secretariat employees has also been cancelled. Earlier it was reported that a total of 14 ministers can take oath, but now it is being told that a total of 18 ministers will be included in the cabinet. In this, preparations are being made to administer oath to 9-9 ministers from BJP and Shinde faction. The program will be held at Raj Bhavan from 11 am.
According to sources, the name of Sanjay Rathod, who was controversial, is also included in the list of ministers of Shinde faction. Sanjay Rathod was an accused in the Tiktok star Pooja Chavan suicide case. Rathod resigned from the post of minister in the Uddhav government under pressure from the BJP. Rathod, a Shiv Sena MLA from Yavatmal's Degrass Assembly constituency, was the Forest Minister in the former Mahavikas Aghadi government.
Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis took oath as Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister on June 30. On Monday, a meeting was held between the two leaders regarding cabinet expansion. All the formalities have also been completed from Delhi High Command. Sudhir Mungantiwar, Chandrakant Patil, Girish Mahajan can be included in the cabinet from the BJP camp. On the other hand, Gulab Rao Patil, Sada Savarkar, Deepak Kesarkar can be given a chance from Shinde camp. According to sources, the Home Department may be given to Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis.
