State Disaster Relief Force personnel were seen having a rescue operation at the site of the accident, as shown in a short video shared with news agency ANI.
The officials stated that the bus belonged to Roadways and is on Bhimtal-Haldwani with 20-25 people travelling on it.

"Today, on 25 December 2024, information was received from the District Control Room, Nainital that a roadways bus has crashed near Bhimtal, on which the rescue teams of SDRF have left for the spot from Post Nainital and Khairna," SSP Nainital Prahlad Meena said.

Saturday's series of accidents caused the deaths of five of their soldiers when an Army vehicle fell into a gorge in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
A defence spokesperson said the cause of the accident is being ascertained but "possibly; the driver lost control at a turn of the road". A convoy of six vehicles was on the way from Nilam Headquarters to Balnoi Ghora Post during the accident in the Gharoa area.

The officials quoted above said rescue teams have recovered five bodies from the gorge, which has a depth of 300 to 350 feet.
J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed his deepest condolences to this incident near the forward post along the Line of Control (LoC). Extending the deepest sympathies to bereaved families, states the spokesman.
The Army, meanwhile, ruled out terrorism angle in the incident. "A terrorist Initiated Incident positively ruled out after confirming from ground sources. Own post approximately 130 m from the incident site and backup vehicle was barely 40 meters away," he said.
The Dhruva Command, more popularly known as the Northern Command, said that Lieutenant General M V Suchindra Kumar and all ranks extend their condolences on the tragic loss of five brave soldiers.
"Dhruva Command stands firm with the bereaved families in this hour of grief", the command said on X.
